OAT (Overseas Adventure Travel) "Ancient Kingdoms" trip overview

Our travel to SE Asia also includes a pre-trip to Hong Kong where we will see the sites for three days.  Then we fly to Bangkok for the beginning of our 21-day travel adventure.  Here is how the OAT travel website describes the trip:

"Veer off Southeast Asia’s trodden paths to uncover the glory days of lost empires—and immerse yourself in the vibrant cultures that have emerged in their wakes. Traveling the Indochina peninsula through Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, you’ll connect with locals who will share their homes, markets, and schools with you. In our small group, we'll slip into daily life in Southeast Asia for an authentic cultural experience. Get a glimpse into the future of the region during a visit to a local school; absorb the quiet tranquility of the early morning as you participate in an alms-giving ceremony with local monks; and truly get a taste for local life here when you join a Laotian family for a meal in their home.
And, with a local Trip Leader by your side throughout this adventure, you'll get a uniquely local perspective on Southeast Asia's history and traditions as you explore this fascinating part of the world. Behold temples and shrines devoted to Buddhist, Hindu, and animist worship; romantic remnants of French Colonial architecture; and gilded palaces where royals still reside. From the grandeur of Angkor Wat’s temples to the simplicity of life along the Mekong River, it’s an Asian adventure like none other."
